PUBLIC EDUCATION
In an ongoing effort to improve the lives of persons with disabilities, The Arc has developed a public education program. This program is designed to educate individuals in the field of disabilities as well as the general public on disability related issues.
Topics include:
· Arc general awareness.
· Education on vocational opportunities.
· Information and training opportunities on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
· Education on employment opportunities in the field of disability issues.
· Training on specific disabilities.
Presentations are made to civic groups, students, parents' groups, businesses, other disability related organizations, school districts, and the general public. Other efforts to educate the community and those who could benefit from Arc services include the use of The Arc newsletter. This medium allows The Arc to reach a number of individuals on a regular basis.
The media offers us the opportunity to provide information on new programs as well as upcoming events, reaching a large portion of the community.
Our participation in community events are excellent opportunities for you to become involved in The Arc. Individuals not only learn more about The Arc, but also are able to share that information with people who can benefit from services provided by The Arc.
